[Review] 3D2N trip to Sinar Eco Resort, JB, Malaysia with a 2 year old toddler

The long weekend trip to Sinar Eco Resort was our first family trip post-covid. It also served as a birthday trip for PL. As H's school was closed on 2 and 5 Sep 2022, we had to make plans to ensure our sanity. Initially, I wanted to go somewhere further but common sense and logic won out. After much deliberation and consideration, we narrowed the locations to JB and had 2 choices in mind. One is Sinar Eco Resort and the other one is Rainforest Tree House. In the end, we decided on Sinar Eco Resort because of the following points: All-inclusive stay (RM280 per night/pax) H doesn't need to pay since he is below 3 years old. Location (Near to SG. If H falls sick, we could rush back.) Kid's safety (Since it's an enclosed farm, we could be sure that he wouldn't be kidnapped or something along the line. Sorry, I'm just too paranoid) Activities (H loves animals and animal feeding is included in the package) One thing I must say about PL; he is really a do-er. After we...

JB Trip over the Good Friday long weekend + reviews of KSL food places and Tai Son Seafood Restaurant

Double date :D We went back to 11@Century Hotel which was ultra near KSL, and much much cheaper than KSL resorts itself. And the facilities were so much better too! Things were not so good at first. I quarreled with PL just the night before the trip. We had agreed that he would stay over since Friday is a PH, (so he would be washing clothes on Thur night after we went to his mum's birthday dinner.) But, the MIL interfered and told him that he has to wash another pile of clothes the next day too. Trust me, I was so fucking pissed off that I smashed my fists on the wall when I heard that news. And I whatsapped a lot of evil and mean stuff that I shall not repeat here. Mainly about him letting me go if he values his mum that much and stuff. (Btw I am still very pissed off. Every single time I think of his mum, my blood will boil. Don't expect me to cool down so soon. Okay, maybe forever.) He came early the next morning, but I was still super unhappy. I didn't marry him...

Review: Bliss Boutique Hotel at JB

After 1 year plus, we finally went back to the same hotel to stay. It really brings back memories huh. =) The first trip that we took together overseas... The same parking space, but this time, instead of using a wooden plank, the person helped to pushed the bike up to the pavement. Also, they have included security guards at the gates, who help to tap us into the hotel lobby. It made us feel very safe. Haha, and very VIP-ish. This time round, we booked the standard queen room, which is smaller than the deluxe, but it was good enough for me. I was a little uncomfortable with the lack of window though. Pardon my pose. Their service this time round wow-ed me, mostly because PL did alot of ordering. At first he requested for more tissues, then after that 2 pin-plug, and then more water etc. I was a little paiseh but oh wells. They even brought the water up to our room despite PL ordering 5 bottles of them @@ The breakfast selection is a little limited, still the sam...

Review: Causeway Bay Hong Kong Dim Sum at City Square JB

Located on the 6th level of City Square Mall, it is the perfect lunch place if you are heading to watch a movie at Cathay. The cinema is just right beside the restaurant. Only recently did I get to know about this place as I seldom venture up to the top levels of City Square Mall. The layout is quite weird as there is only an escalator going upwards to the cinema but we have to use either the lift or the stairs to get back to the 5th level. Anyone know of any other solution to get down? Anyway, the dim sum there is not too bad. It is decently priced for dim sum, and the portion is just nice. Lunch for 4 pax Hits Har Gao - I like the Har Gao as the portion is just nice, not too much skin, and it was very smooth. Handmade fishball - I didn't find it very fantastic but PL's mum went gaga over it. HK egg tarts - PL's mum says that PL is very picky about his egg tarts so I assume that it is good as he likes it. Me? I'm not a fan of egg tarts. >....

Tai Son Seafood Restaurant at JB (The Zon)

Picture credit to  http://hungryrick.blogspot.sg Tai Son Seafood is a Seafood Restaurant with a seaview looking towards Singapore at The Zon, JB. One can take a RM10 taxi ride there (6-7RM if going by meter but usually they will jack up the price) There is also a ferry terminal near there so if you are interested to go to Batam from Malaysia, you can try there to (I have never taken the ferry from there before). The seafood there is definitely very fresh, based on the few times that I have been there. The variety of food is extensive, albeit a tad on the expensive side. (but definitely cheaper than in Singapore) Tai Son Seafood Restaurant Menu   PL loves the dessert there, even though they do not specialise in desserts. He had the crazy idea of just going there for the dessert till I stopped him. The fried ice-cream there is just heavenly~~ For me, I am always for their crabs. If you go there, go for the steamed garlic crabs! It is so juicy and delic...

Review: Kurotomon Ramen @ City Square JB

The place that the 5 of us went for lunch at JB City Square It was an impulsive move as we didn't know what we wanted to eat. Looking at the price, it was a tad expensive (almost the same price as Singapore's ramen shop) but since they featured quite a few interesting dishes, we decided to give it a go.  They gave us a table where the seats were wobbly, and we were gingerly sitting on it, and I was so afraid that it would collapse under our weight. Luckily the waitress brought us to another table once the customers had left. The menu that they offered is extensive. We took quite a while to order. The green tea that was ordered was okay imo, but Wei Ping said that it was not up to standard. Oh well, they tasted average to me, not fantastic but it wasn't that bad either. The ramen was quite good actually, with the exception of the meat. Both the Chashu and the braised pork were too salty. Not too sure why, but it was really thirst-inducing. I was turned off by ...

Pasar malam near KSL City on Monday evenings

I just went on a little hunting spree with my mum and the two other kids. According to the cab driver in Malaysia, there is a Pasar Malam just outside of KSL city, JB, on Monday evenings (every Monday). The roads will be blocked by the police then, so it is a little like the Pasar Malam in Jonker Street. However, the stuff that they sell there is a little different from Jonker Street. They sell food and vegetables more than they sell little trinkets and clothes. There are only a few clothes shops here and there but there are lots of food stalls. It is a must-go place if you are interested in local food. There are bread, cakes, mua chi, corn, etc sold there piping hot. Just look out for the entrance/exit near to coffeebean in KSL City ;)

Review: Bliss Hotel, JB

Omg, I didn't realise that I didn't review about Bliss till I was looking for it in my blog posts. Yes, I do reread my own blog at times. Which is good because I tend to have STM. Bliss Hotel is a uniquely designed hotel in JB, near to KSL and Sri Tebrau. I love this area (but not Pelangi Plaza which was a 3 minute walk away) and the rooms are so pretty! Very pretty right? We stayed in the orange one when we were there. This exact same room. All the rooms are designed differently, when we went to poke around. This hotel is actually converted from shophouses so there are quite a few stairs leading to everywhere. The rooms are all quite small though, but it is enough if you are not bring your whole wardrobe along. We watched horror movies inside the room as they have the LCD screen. Very awesome. The breakfast was a little limited as there are not many guests, but it was ok in PL's opinion. For me, I thought that there was a lack of choice, but they have ...
