Review: Cedele @ Great World City

Since PL took a day of leave from his work (which is very rare since he has like 10 days of leave a year?), he decided to have breakfast with me. It's a really special occasion since I can barely count the number of times he have breakfast with me since I need to work on most weekends. Of course, holidays are not counted. Initially, he wanted to bring me to wild honey, but since it was too rushed as we both woke up late, we searched online and found Cedele. There was one branch over at Great World City, which was near to Vivocity, where we are supposed to meet the rest. I was delighted when I saw their menu! It is a vegetarian friendly restaurant! I'm not a vegetarian but I do like my food without a lot of meat. I guess I am just picky. haha. I ordered a rosti breakfast set while PL ordered a mushroom onion pancake set. At first, I don't really want to try his because I don't like onions, but luckily it was just green onions, not the raw and smelly kind. Too bad

Review: NUR1113 (Active Ageing in Singapore)

Apparently this is a year one nursing module. This is another module which is highly bidded for, and a relatively easy module. Lectures can be skipped, as long as you read the lecture slides on your own. All the information had been pasted into the slides, rendering the lecture useless. The lecturer usually just reads from the slides. Tutorials are easy. Nothing much to prepare, and basically, they are logic questions. I remember doing a powerpoint presentation for this module. We also did random experiments in tutorials. However, one thing not good about being the minority in a close-knitted faculty means that you can't really interact with the rest of the module mates. They all have a similar timetable, meaning that you have to suit their timing. Something to consider if you are taking language modules huh.

Review: GEK 1545 (An insight into reproductive health)

This is the time of the year when all my posts about NUS modules are flooded with visitors. I guess it's good time to do a belated review of it huh. (Pardon me if my memory is not too good) I remember this module as one of the highest ever bidded module for me. The lecture and tutorial are both held in NUH itself, and it was one of the rare times that I actually went to NUS so many times in a sem. The lecturer is an Indian gynecologist, and he told us about his life story as well as went through the lecture notes. He made a lot of adult jokes though. Lecture notes are easy to read and understand. I actually still keep some of them for reference. The mid-term assignment was an essay (something like a sociology question, if you know what I mean) Overall, I think that it's an easy module. The problem is, whether you have enough points to bid for it.

Review: Addams Family

PL and I went for dinner at Putien at RWS since we didn't have much time to eat at Vivocity with the rest. Then after that, we went to catch Addams Family. It was awesome! The characters were exactly what I thought they would be, and Wednesday was really good with her voice! =D The plot was a little flawed in some sense, but I love the humor! However, I wouldn't really recommend it to kids even though I saw a lot of kids attending the show as I think that the content is a bit too mature for them. I heard the kid beside me asking stuff that I wouldn't know how to answer if I were her parent. Also, some of the words used are too difficult for them. But as an adult, I enjoyed the show tremendously.

Review: S.E.A Aquarium at RWS

Just came back from S.E.A Aquarium exhausted. I didn't realise that it was so big that it took us 3+ hours to walk through the area and take photographs. We didn't stop to rest for long either. We did not go for the typhoon theatre in the end too. (I have been there before and it sucks.) The stingrays are super cute! And there are a lot of colorful fishes :D One good thing is that there are guides around to ask information, and there is also a place where we are allowed to touch the starfish, sea cucumber and stingray. It was quite a long queue despite it being a normal weekday! (Not during school holiday period) Surprisingly, the place was packed. We were surrounded by mostly tourists, and usually Chinese nationals. There is this big viewing gallery with large spaces for people to sit, and view the fishes. Food can be brought in (I think) since they are selling hotdogs and drinks at one part of the aquarium. The dolphin viewing was pathetic. I think we went there a

Movie Review: The Rooftop (Jay Chou)

Okays, first of all, I'm a Jay Chou Fan =P He mentioned that he wanted to do a musical movie that makes sense. But..the movie don't really make a lot of sense. There's a lot of singing and dancing inside, and full of Jay Chou's flavor. He is still his usual shy self, with non-existent kissing. >.< But it is definitely more mature than Initial D. And the concept of the rooftop people and the outside world is quite interesting. Just that.. the plot is a little too shallow for my liking. I am super disappointed by the ending. What's up with the racing car scene and the kidnapping of people? And most of all, why the art gallery?!! Verdict: Can watch the front part of the movie, but skip the ending.

Movie Review: The Lone Ranger

Johnny Depp is in this one! I admit I'm a fan of him and his quirky mannerisms so I love this movie. However, I cannot say that he is a good actor because he acts exactly the same as when he was in Pirates of the Caribbean. The movie plot is quite interesting but some scenes are just too coincidental in my opinion. Add in the flashback scenes and they do not really make much sense to me. Btw, there is a gore scene inside. Verdict: Go only if you are a Johnny Depp Fan.

Movie Review: Pacific Rim

I'm not exactly a fan of action movie, but quite surprisingly, I did not fall asleep during the movie. It feels like a Japanese-American plot, where they tried to infuse asian elements into the movie, and try to make fun out of it. The Hong Kongish setting is an epic fail. Violence in the movie is expected, but the flurry of actions that accompanies it made me feel like I had a headache in the middle of the movie. I probably shouldn't have watched it in Imax, because the alignment felt a little out. Other than that, the action parts were good. The romance in the film was a tad too predictable though. Connection between the lead and his co-pilot; how predictable can the plot get? Especially when his co-pilot is a female. On the whole, the film is too serious for my liking, and there were too many tension points IMO. But as a girl who likes cartoons more than action flicks, I guess it was not too bad a movie.

First ever BGM that I have attended - Bukit Batok CC YEC BGM 2013

Bukit Batok CC YEC held a movie screening cum ice-skating BGM yesterday. It was my first time attending a BGM and it took only 30mins to finish the BGM. To my surprise, I actually saw Tash at the BGM! I have not seen him for a super long time. Then, we went over to ice-skate. My second time ice-skating, and the first time was such a long time ago (probably when I was in Secondary School?) PL told me that it was his first time skating but yet it seems like he is better on the ice than me >.< I guess I am more afraid of falling than him. HAHA. We managed to take a few shots together in the rink tho :) Then after that, it was a short dinner and then off we go to watch Pacific Rim. Saw Wendy, Jiahao, Wei Ping, Jerain and the rest. The Imax movie for pacific rim is not as good, because the action scenes are a bit tough to watch. We got a bit of eye-ache :( Went out with them to chat at the coffeeshop after the movie, and ohh! PL actually took the train with me! =D

A bit on wedding plans

With our hectic work schedules, it is amazing that we actually found time to meet up with each other. Over Udders, we (or more accurately,I) were talking about the wedding plan for next year. Ultimately, we kinda settled for Wen Yen Lou for the family side, and maybe somewhere else for our friends. Slept over at his place, because he fell asleep before he could let me out of the house, and thus, probably has a lot of explanation to do when his dad reaches home later. Got the proposal ring back from him (yes, it was with him all the while).

Proposal and acceptance! =P

Not a big event. It was just a simple dinner at Itacho Sushi, then to Utown for stargazing. It was there when he proposed. 1 year 1 month and 1 day huh. And it was there when we kinda decided that we wanted to be together. He said," Would you take me to be your husband for the next 77 years?" She said," Why 77 years?" He said," Cuz I like the number." She said," I don't think I can live to a hundred." ROFL.
