Weekend trip to Batam 29-30 Nov 2014

This time round, it was really a short trip. As Xy and J has to work on sat, we only managed to take the ferry at 4 Plus and by the time we reached Batam, the only ferry timing available was at 10plus am! @@ Frankly speaking, I was a little disappointed as I thought of doing more stuff in Batam since it was months ago since I stepped there. >.< Anyway, we stayed in 89 Hotel, which is far nicer than the previous hotel that we stayed in (Triniti Hotel). As we haven't checked in by 7pm, they called us to check if we were delayed, (yes, we were - too engrossed in the arcade games in Megamall lol) and we took a cab there. (60,000 rupiah) The movie tickets there are cheap! Around $3.50 for a Saturday night ticket, but unless you are staying at Gideon Hotel or 89 hotel (or any hotels near BCS mall), i think it's quite unsafe to go back too late as there are limited street lights. While walking back to our hotel, we came across a whole stretch of food vendors, and being

1st Brazilian Waxing at Cecilia Westberry

Booked an appointment with Cecilia Westberry on Sat morning. For those who have not been there before, I think it is wise to give a 15 mins allowance to find the place as it is in the middle of the housing estate. I was late ><. Luckily she still had time to do it for me. It was a quick 15mins wax and she was quite professional about it. I was a little anxious since it was my first time but it was relatively painless. I paid SGD45 nett and I thought it's quite worth it ;) I hoped it has been a surprise for my dearie hubby~~ Updates: Asae has been scaring me with stories of itchiness when the hair is growing back but so far, it has been quite okay, with no horror stories. The hair has been growing back quite slowly anyway, and I will probably only go back closer to my phuket trip =P (Think Bikini!)

Horrible experiments that were done on human beings

Lunchtime today, I was chatting with my colleague and I ending up talking about this morbid experiment that I watched when I was in university. The experiment is called the Milgram Experiment. You can read more about it here.  http://www.simplypsychology.org/milgram. I thought that people might be interested in some of these experiments that I have read about. Extreme isolation experiment by Donald Hebb http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/10/donald-o-hebb-effects-extreme-isolation And another list of 10 experiments http://mentalfloss.com/article/52787/10-famous-psychological-experiments-could-never-happen-today It's actually quite scary to think about the behaviours of humans will change in certain situations. If you are interested, there is this book called Malicious Intent by Kathryn Fox which mentioned about the Stockholm syndrome and the effects of sensory deprivation.

The case of neediness and mis-communication

I have something good to announce. This time round, it seems like we have a good ending and conclusion. It is just weird that the marriage counselling session didn't help but we ended up enlisting the help with one of our friends to resolve the problem. And....we are not communicating properly. Eg. I told him that I didn't trust him because of his past actions. And I call and message him, with him thinking that I was calling only to check up on him (but in fact, I called him because I miss him) and he took it the wrong way. Then he got pissed at me since he thought I was checking on him, and it resulted in me being pissed too because I called him because I missed him and he reacted in a negative way, leading me to think that he just doesn't love me anymore..and it goes on. With that being said, his friend concluded that I am a needy girl, and PL got the wrong impression that I am independent, so he can just leave me alone for long periods of time (which was wrong btw)

Spending a weekend together

After all these quarrels, we managed to spend a peaceful weekend together. Xinyi and Constance actually helped in the conciliation process. Friday evening was unexpectedly spent with his ex-colleagues at some sumiyaki restaurant at Star Vista, and him staying overnight at my place. Sat was spent nua-ing around in the house till his CU5 assessment time (and I managed to cook lunch for him :)) The place was at the old Republic Poly site and he brought me around for a viewing of how it looks like when he was studying there. (Frankly, I was a little apprehensive of that place since it was the place where he and his ex spent the most time at together) But as Constance said, I am a glutton for pain as I still want to know about it. Damn curiosity. After that, we went over to the SAF changi chalet where Boon Hui was celebrating his gf's birthday. The atmosphere was a little awkward as we all have not met for a long time. But oh well...It just makes me more certain that I don't w

Swimming craze - Active@sg

I have been going swimming since our dear government started giving out the $100 credits for Singaporeans/PRs to start their exercise regimes. I have been thinking of going back to swimming for the longest time ever but never found the time to do so - until this promotion happened. Just sign up at  www.myactivesg.com  and use your singpass to sign up for it. There are also monthly swim passes going at $10/mth for adults and $5/mth for students under 18 and seniors over 55. Swimming is really good for the joints since jogging and running do more harm to the body especially when you get to the old age of 25 like me. @@ This is the time when I have to start taking care of my skin and body, in case they sag and I look damn ugly (OMG!)

Review: The Body shop -Shea body butter

Okays! I have finally finished using my 200ml shea body butter after 1.5years *gasps* (I admit I had been too lazy to apply everyday and I think I should give my two cents worth of review. In case you don't know, this is how it looks like.  Personally I used to think that the body butter was too rich for my skin when I was at my previous company and I need to be out in the sun more often, which makes it slightly sticky ( a eww feeling if you get what I mean) but after changing jobs, this is a god send.  In the air-con environment, it was less greasy and easier to absorb, probably because I wasn't sweating as much. I love the scent of it, and it is so strong that my husband smells it when I go near him. (Actually from far away too) The trick is to use lesser than normal as you can spread a bit over quite a big area. I made the mistake of smearing my whole body with a lot of it and I ended up all greasy and some got onto my bed when I prepared to sleep. It ta

Cavalia Singapore

I'm excited to watch the show! *Muacks* to PL who bought the tickets despite me stating that it's too expensive and it's going to be my early birthday present :) And there is going to be an exclusive tour around the stables too!! =D I will definitely try to take more pictures since it is such a rare occasion.

Mypaper Love Hunt 2014

Recently PL and I went to take part in this contest called MyPaper Love Hunt 2014 where a treasure hunt awaits us. I saw this on a newspaper and decided to sign up for fun since it was on a weekend, and we always stay in. And importantly, it was in a mall, which means less sun. The sunny weather has been a bitch recently. The T-shirt given out is yellow! They actually gave us a complimentary photo of us, so the day is not wasted. The game started at 2pm, where there was a mass challenge. We both thought that the stations were a choke point as we had to queue and wait at most of the queues. And they re-used the previous year's indemnity form! Since there were only 4 winners, many of the couples dropped out halfway and strolled around since they are sure that they can't get the prizes anyway. We still tried our best though. The stations were quite easy but the clues were quite hard. Both of us are not shoppers so we ended up searching for Dorothy Perkins
