Mypaper Love Hunt 2014

Recently PL and I went to take part in this contest called MyPaper Love Hunt 2014 where a treasure hunt awaits us. I saw this on a newspaper and decided to sign up for fun since it was on a weekend, and we always stay in. And importantly, it was in a mall, which means less sun. The sunny weather has been a bitch recently. The T-shirt given out is yellow! They actually gave us a complimentary photo of us, so the day is not wasted. The game started at 2pm, where there was a mass challenge. We both thought that the stations were a choke point as we had to queue and wait at most of the queues. And they re-used the previous year's indemnity form! Since there were only 4 winners, many of the couples dropped out halfway and strolled around since they are sure that they can't get the prizes anyway. We still tried our best though. The stations were quite easy but the clues were quite hard. Both of us are not shoppers so we ended up searching for Dorothy Perkins...

Game Review: Killing Floor

It has been a long time since I played this game. I think the first time was with Nic when we went out for some Lan gaming. This time, it was with PL and Constance, and it was so impromptu that everyone got caught unaware. It's a standard first person shooting gameplay in some sense, except that after every wave of zombies, you are allowed to buy weapons and reload your ammo with the trader. And the trader's position changes every time and you need to get as close to the trader as possible in order to have ample time to choose. I love this game as I like purchasing stuff. However, the novelty wears off after you have played for a while. The slow-motion effects are quite irritating as you might get caught off-guard when you are reloading the weapon. I swear by my camping skills, and this game is not bad for campers as there are always places for you to camp. Playing with a bunch of friends is the best as you are familiar with your friends' fighting style. Damn awesom...

Simple rules for Ticket to ride (USA version)

1. Choose 3 destination cards. Keep at least 2 of them. 2. Draw 5 wagon cards. Then, start the game. Moves available: Draw 2 Wagon cards *Take note that 1 Locomotive card(wild card) = 2 wagon cards) OR Claim a route OR Draw another 3 destination cards (have to keep at least 1 of them every time you draw) Rules to take note of: The colours of the wagon cards must match the ones on the board (between a route). I.e: 2 white spaces between 2 routes can be claimed by 2 white wagon cards. This will be considered as 1 move. Once a route has been claimed, other players are not able to claim it anymore. (In games with more than 3 players, some routes have double lines :D) The game will end when there are 2 or less wagon pieces in a player's possession. (Once the wagon pieces reaches 2 or below, everyone will play one last turn.) Point system: Every time a route is claimed, the player will get points according to board. Another way to get points is to finish routes...

Review: Ticket to Ride Board game

I first played it in Minds Cafe and it got stuck in my head.  It is a very interesting and strategic game for friends to play. The basic information is here ->  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticket_to_Ride_(board_game) After playing it, we decided that food and drinks do not match with this game because we were too focused on the game to touch the food. One cons about this game is the method of counting the points. It is quite troublesome to keep track on the points especially when you are eating, chatting and strategising at the same time. HAHA. I played the first version and got hooked. Initially, we wanted to play the Europe edition but it was too complicated for us beginners. So we got the staff at Minds Cafe to teach us the first version. I think it is a very good way of learning the geography of the different countries in a recreational way as they made use of real city states. Time to get one soon, provided I have space to put in my house :P
